Carpenter Ants

ant removal

Black or dark brown (even red sometimes) and ranging in size from 1/4 to 7/8 of an inch in length, the Carpenter Ant is attracted to wet, rotting wood for nest building and colony expanding. Carpenter Ants can cause extensive structural damage to homes and are especially common in kitchens and on decks or porches in the spring and summer. In the fall, ants try to find shelter for the upcoming winter in any structure that is suitable to protect the queen. It is important to have a plan in place for the changing seasons in Massachusetts for effective Carpenter Ant control.
